Discover and collect topic ideas by using applications like Google Alerts and NewsBlur to have stories relevant to your industry pushed to your email box. Choose a topic that is relevant to your industry, and write an opinion piece to post on your blog, or simply share the article on social media outlets like LinkedIn or Facebook with your comments.
Be careful not to just retweet or repost news stories. What will establish you as a thought leader, is adding your educated opinion, or finding a unique angle in a story that is covered in the mainstream press.
